Spread evenly in a 13 x 9-inch glass dish:
One 16-ounce can refried beans
Mash together and spread over the beans:
2 large ripe Hass avocados, peeled and pitted
2 tablespoons lime juice
Mix together and spread over the avocado layer:
1 cup sour cream
1/2 envelope taco seasoning
Layer in the order listed:
3 tablespoons chopped drained canned green chiles
One 5 3/4-ounce can sliced black olives, drained
8 plum tomatoes, chopped (about 4 cups)
2 cups grated sharp Cheddar (8 ounces)
Broil 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Top with:
chopped cilantro or scallions
Serve with:
Tortilla or pita chips
